Painting Sola Wood Flowers

Since these flowers take about 24 hours to fully dry, we will not be able to stem them during class, but I will bring some painted examples to show how to do so at the end and provide sturdy wire. There will be a variety of colors to choose from as well.

This is a messy process. Please ensure that you are wearing clothes that you do not mind getting paint on. I will try to provide a variety of colors, but if you have a certain color you would like, please feel free to bring it. I use a ratio for 2 fl oz of paint, so please make sure the paint size fits with that.

DigiFab & Ceramics

by Brooks Oliver

Brooks Oliver is a ceramics professor at the University of North Texas and a studio artist based out of Dallas, TX. His work inherently blurs the boundaries between craft, design, industry, and technology as he is inspired by the charged grey areas between these binaries.

By marrying the production techniques of CAD software and rapid prototyping technologies with the creation techniques of the hand, a unique dialog can be formed between the digital and clay that ultimately influences both ways of making.

How to Workshop

by James Thurman

Teaching short workshops is a very special type of art instruction. This two-part workshop will focus on successful strategies for giving these workshops.

The first part will cover a variety of approaches and brainstorm types of workshops participants might be interested in conducting. In the second part, participants will lead their own self- generated activities and receive feedback on their implementation.

For the first session, students should just bring note-taking materials. For the second session, students will need to bring whatever materials they need to conduct their activity.
