Outdoor Fabric Drink Covers by Emma Roberts

Planning on spending a lot of time at the pool or picnicking at the park but hate bugs getting into your drinks? Come learn how to make a set of 4 drink covers that prevent that! In this entry-level class, we will learn how to cut mosquito netting to create rectangles, secure ribbons around the edge to prevent fraying, and sew them together using a sewing machine. Then, we will use beads to add extra sparkle and weigh down the edges against the wind. To finish it, we’ll add a button or beads in the middle for a “handle”. The instructor will be providing basic colors of ribbons and a variety of beads. If you have a specific color that you would like, please bring in a 5/8 in ribbon that can be ironed without melting and any beads you would like to use.

Emma Roberts is a student at University of North Texas who is part of their local Jewelry and Metalsmithing Club. She enjoys spending time in the evenings making art, wearable or otherwise, while her cats supervise her work. Instagram: flying.creations
